What's your opinion on kids home alone younger than nine?

i say younger than 12 or 13 yrs shouldnt stay at home alone cuz they dont know what to do as much as 12 or 13 yrs old do

It really depends on the kid. Some children are more mature and responsible than others.

my opinion no.  the youngest should be alone is about 13.

I personally think it has to do with the childs maturity level. I have a cousin who's children I wouldn't leave home alone at 18. As a mother you have to be the judge, and hopefully you will just know.

Younger than 9 is too young for any child no matter how "mature" they seem.  Kids that young can get scared, and perhaps hide in the event of a fire or something like that.  I wouldn't consider leaving a child alone until about age 10 or 11.  I would do it then if the child was mature and responsible and no longer than 2 hours.

Dangerous. You never know what they could do. Accidents, fires who knows!

If you're running a quick errand to the grocery store for five minutes than that would be fine. But for 1-3 hours after school? No way. I would say that the minimum age should be 13, depending on maturity.

That isn't old enough .

I wouldn't want to leave my child alone unless

he was a teenager . By that time they should

be able to make there own food, keep the house tidy,

know who/when/where to call incase of an emergency, etc .

it depends on how responsible they are and  in most cases their gender.  Girls are normally more responsible at younger ages and wont fight as much so i would feel more safe leaving them home.  I personally think u should wait until at least 1 kid is 10 but, if they are responsible now go for it

for a few minutes, it's okay if the kids keep the doors locked and can access 911.  i do this frequently when i check the mail or take out the trash.  any longer period of time is questionable.

Doesn't matter what I think because in all 50 states it's against the laws.  The youngest a child can be home alone is nine years and that is for not more than two hours.

Fine, if not too long. That's what my parents did with me, i was smart enough to not set the house on fire, wasn't I?

It's illegal in most states...Child Protective Svs could step in if they became aware of it.

younger then around 12 or 13 is to young to be home alone. even at 12 it should only be for an hour or 2.
