  1. The only reason I like it is because it kept the Greeks together throughout so many wars.

Even if it is Nationalistic it is what saved us Greeks!

  2. The orthodox churches are nationalist in their scope and are the progenitors of the protestant religions. The Eastern Block countries and Greece had less stable relations with Rome and so formed their own National Churches. They have a different Easter due to changes in the calender.

  3. Look in the real world.

Were they advancing in time or moving backwards in time?

    What went wrong out there?

    Luke 6.39-40,41-45,46-49

    What do you think?

  4. One Holy Catholic And Apostolic Church...

The Greek Orthodox Church (Greek: Ἑλληνορθόδοξη Ἐκκλησία Hellēnorthódoxē Ekklēsía) is formed by several autocephalous churches within the larger communion of Eastern Orthodox Christianity whose liturgy is traditionally conducted in Koine Greek, the original language of the New Testament, and whose clergy is completely or predominantly ethnically Greek or was for a large part of its history, such as in the case of Antioch, which was fully placed under local Arab control only in 1899.

Included are four ancient Eastern Orthodox patriarchates:

        * the Great Church of Christ in Constantinople, headed by the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, who is also the "first among equals" of the Eastern Orthodox Communion,

        * the Greek Orthodox Church of Alexandria,

        * the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch,

        * the Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem (in Greek and Arabic);

    two national autocephalous churches:

        * the Orthodox Church of Greece,

        * the Orthodox Church of Cyprus;

    as well as

        * the Orthodox Church of Mount Sinai.

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia are both eparchies of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

Note: The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America should not be confused with the autocephalous Russian Orthodox Church in America whose autocephaly – granted by the Patriarchate of Moscow – is not recognized by Constantinople and many other churches of the Eastern Communion due to political reasons.

Trivia: The word Eucharist comes from a Greek word which means 'Thanksgiving.'

  5. I love it. It is the only Church I know and wish to know, and the only way I use to talk to God and try to follow His ways.

I belong to the Serbian Orthodox Church which is the sister Church of the Greek.

The water is always the  purest and the freshest close to the spring, so national churches make sense to me. They play the part of preserving the national being of a nation, not only the spiritual.

  6. I've had really really bad experiences with that church, and most recently a priest who tried to get me to commit adultery with him. And that is the Least of what I've seen and experienced.

  7. You should know that Orthodoxy is the first and purest form of Christianity. All other denominations like Catholicism and Protestantism followed later.

I respect the Greek Orthodox Church and I worship God in the Orthodox Christian way.

  8. i respect it as greek as i respect every religion, and i want also the others to respect it...

I just say that it has to be an institution independent from the state thats all...

  9. The Greek Orthodox Church, at least the way it is run in USA, has started to become a business, not an oasis of spirituality that it was meant to be.   And this saddens me.

But let me say this in defense of the Church - -for 400 years the only schools in Greece were those run by the Church.  It is impossible to overestimate the significance of the Orthodox Church during the dark age of the Turkish occupation, and equally impossible to detail all that it accomplished.  GREECE would be a TOTALLY different place today if it were not for the  Orthodox Church.

  10. Bad or good I am not following any form of religion.

I believe to God but with my own way and with no restrictions or rules.

I do respect everyone's faiths,as I do respect Greek Orthodox faith.

After all it was Orthodoxy that kept us alive when Ottomans took the rule of us.

Priests and churches had organised the secret school (kryfo sholio) in order the new children not to loose our language and customs.Ottomans have restricted them and thru Christianity we kept them alive.....

I highly respect that but I m not going to follow any form of religion.

  11. its a perversion of Christianity as well as all the denominations other than the non-denominational Churches of Christ

  12. It is one of the pariarchates of the ture church of christ- I just wish the Churches under the eccuminal patirarchate in the US would join the OCA like they are suppsoed to be.

  13. Hi, I have changed from greek orthodox and attend a church which the pastor preaches only from Gods Word...the bible. We pray only to Jesus because He is the only mediator between man & God. He is the only way. He is the truth. Unfortunately the Greek Orthodox do not go strictly by the bible. It has many man made rules & traditions that go against God's Word. Jesus isn't a religion...He is a personal relationship we should all have with Him.
