I condemn Russia.

This started out as a dispute between Georgia and separatist forces in South Ossetia. Ossetia did what it did to get independence and Georgia did what it did to keep the territory. Why does Russia need to interfere?

  1. Russia was in no way, shape or form at fault. Nor was Georgia. The citizens were to blame. They wanted to get back under Russian rule and started their own uprising. They got their butt wooped and Georgia and Russia tried to protect their citizens and the territory.

We are part to blame as well. We armed and trained them!

  2. Russia was looking for an opportunity to make a statement out of Georgia. Russia had South Ossetia provoke Georgia to attack them. Georgia took the bait and Russia came over and slapped Georgia around a bit. Was Russia wrong in defending South Ossetia? Personally I think not. The US and NATO have does it several times throughout history. Russia wanted an opportunity to remind Georgia who the big brother is but Georgia beginning to bomb South Ossetia in that manner... Come on. what did they expect. Russia to sit by idly? Georgia should have known Russia would take the first opportunity to smack them.

  3. That land belongs to Georgia but the Russians are just doing what has always been done by the West. After colonization the people of South Ossetia are now more aligned to Russia. This is close to the Northern Ireland story. Sure Russia wasn't there that long but they will never let the Georgians go in an hurt the people who now feel more philosophically alignd to Russia. The west can't complain after they have been in Russia's situation in the past and did not give up that territory. Israel is taking land daily and the west does nothing about it.

There's not much to say here. Russia has a right to be there based on western precedents.

Looking at the geography it would be logical that that land belongs to Georgia.

I would like to see it go to back to georgia but the west has played these stupid occupation games so it's not so simple. The west is now a victim of its own practices.

  4. That both Georgia and Russian should show restraint. Russia should accept the hard fact that  South Ossetia is a Georgian territory probably  even before the existence of the USSR before. For its Russian passport-bearing residents which is about 90%! (as to some news reports), welcome to Georgia! :)  Cheers!

  5. as far as i know south ossetia is a break away state trying to Allie or form with russia and when Georgia invaded the russians sore  this as an invasion of their territory and as a result they sent troops in. i personally think russia is out to gain thier former glory from the soviet union days i mean they are spending the same if not more on the military as the soviet union in the cold war looks a bit sus 2 me .

  6. Separatist forces in South Ossetia funded by Russia and many of them sent there by Russia.  Georgia was framed.  Putin has shown his true colors loudly.  It's the beginning of many conflicts this world will see.  Putin is aligned with Iran.
