What's your opinion on white guys with dreadlocks?

I've asked this question before and I received many negative responses. I'm hoping that in this category people wont be so simple minded and they will think outside the box. Dreadlocks are not all dirty so please only serious answers.

Hard look to pull off well, but if he can do it, it's just a look.  I would be concerned about what social groups I can fit into looking in such a fashion, and what type of girl I might be trying to attract.  But beyond that it's just hair.  The question is do you look good with them on, because they'll fit certain people, but definitely not others.

I only know one and I'm afraid he is the dirty smelly kind. He's also just a horrible person in general.

I think they're cool.  I have seen some guys it didn't look good on but only a few.  I like creative guys like that.

Although I agree that not all dreadlocks are dirty, for some reason, whenever I've seen them on a white guy they seem to look really filthy.  They make me think of bugs crawling.  Not so on men of color.  If the white guys could leave out the twigs and leaves and general really messiness I wouldn't mind at all.

Personally i'm not a fan of them particularly because i knew one guy who only ended up with dreads because he didn't brush his hair in 8 years, dirty b*****d.

I just find them pathetic because they're pretending to be someone they're not. Dreads just don't look right on white ppl.

I do not take anyone with dreads seriously. At least where I live they are all wanna be hippies.

I like dreadlocks on any guy no matter what race he is. Other than black guys I have seen white, asian and indian guys with dreadlocks. So wear dreadlocks if that's what you want to do and stop caring what other people think. Just remember to maintain your locks properly and keep it neat.

I've only seen one white male with dreads that looked decent and they were faux dreads.  Generally, white hair doesn't "lock" in the same way black hair does and it just looks bad.  Not to mention that dreads have a cultural meaning for black people that simply doesn't apply to white people.  And to top all that, it looks like just another case of cultural appropriation by someone trying to be down.

Yours may be the exception, and I don't know without seeing you, but most of the time they just look bad on white people.
