  2. for 12 sausage rolls:

    Ingredients:

1 (16 ounce) package pork sausagemeat

1 (17.25 ounce) package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed

    1/4 cup Dijon mustard

    1 beaten egg

    Directions:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Unfold the puff pastry sheets, and cut along the fold lines of each sheet to form 6 equal squares for a total of 12 squares.

Brush each square with mustard. Divide sausage into 12 pieces, and roll into small logs. Place one log on each square. Roll dough around the sausage, and seal with a bit of beaten egg. Place rolls onto an ungreased baking sheet, and brush the tops with the rest of the egg.

Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the rolls are puffed and golden. Watch after 10 minutes or so to make sure they don't burn.

  3. Ingredients

    750grams (1 ½ lb) sausage meat (mince)

    1 large onion, finely chopped

    ½ teaspoon dried mixed herbs

4 slices frozen white toast bread

    Warm water

    4 sheets flaky puff pastry

    Freshly ground salt and pepper

    Egg Coating:

      1 egg yoke

    1 tablespoon cold water

In a bowl place the sausage meat, onion, mixed herbs, slat and freshly ground pepper. Cut crusts from the frozen bread and place just the bread into a blender till finely crumbed. Using the frozen bread helps bind the bread in the mixture. Add bread to sausage mixture and mix well. Place sausage mixture along the edge of a pastry sheet about 1-1 ¼” thick. Turn the edge of pastry over the filling so the filling is completely covered.

Cut along the edge of the pastry with a sharp knife. Continue with the remaining filling and pastry. Brush rolls with beaten egg yoke and water coating and put 2 prick marks into the pastry with a sharp knife and then cut into approximately 2” size rolls.

Preheat oven to 200ºc or 400ºF and place rolls on a greased tray for 10 minutes, then reduce temperature to 180ºc for a further 10-15 minutes, until cooked a light golden but not a brown colour.

Serve warm to hot on a serving plate with a small bowl of spicy tomato sauce to compliment the rolls.

  5. This is the recipe my Mum used to use...

    1 packet readymade Puff Pastry

    1 packet Sausage Meat

    Mixed Herbs

    Tomato Ketchup

    Beaten Egg

Mix the sausage meat and herbs together

Roll out the pastry and spread a little tomato ketchup in the middle

Lay the sausage meat on the pastry, brush a little egg around the edges and roll up (the egg helps seal the pastry)
