i personally think al gore is a good speaker who came up with a great way to scam america, though i do know global warming is real. I want to i know whether it's a natural process or if it's being caused by carbon emmisions. Whats your opinion?

  1. To much hype, not enough substance, even science is being clouded  by those seeking political power.

  2. Real, mostly caused by us.  Forget Gore, he has nothing to do with the science.

This is science and what counts is the data.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)

    Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know...  Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point.  You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

    Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

  3. It's a natural process that being greatly accelerated by us.

You know, mass extinctions are a "natural process" too.  You want to go with the flow, or do you want to see what you can do to survive?

  4. Global climate change is becoming a major threat.  A lot of evidence points to it being caused, or at least sped up, by human activities.  Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and CFCs increase the amount of heat retained in our atmosphere, which are probably causing this global warming.  These gases are being released into the atmosphere at an increased rate due to human activities.

  5. Ok people here is a simple line of reasoning.  First, it is considered a fact that carbon dioxide turns more of the sun's radiant energy into increased average internal kinetic energy.  In other words the CO2 gets warmer when hit by light than alot of other gasses.  A good example is the planet Venus.  It is the hottest planet in the solar system and yet it is  the SECOND planet from the sun.

Second,  the activities of human beings has been elevating the levels of CO2, not to mention many other greenhouse gasses, for...well as long as we've been here.

Third,  human beings have also been destroying the only things capable of turning CO2 into oxygen.

I don't know about you guys but this sounds like humanity is asking for it.

  6. Greenhouse gas warming is a natural process, and this time it is being heavily influenced by human emissions.

Al is simply a former politician and now a speaker.  He may be visible, but he really isn't directly inolved, or particularly relevant to the subject.

In the Colorado River Basin the major reservoirs may become drawn down to the point of being unusable as soon as 2021.  That's amajor issue for people from Wyoming to New Mexico to California.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/21/magazi...

Steven Chu, a Nobel laureate and the director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, one of the United States government’s pre-eminent research facilities, remarked that diminished supplies of fresh water might prove a far more serious problem than slowly rising seas.

Chu noted that even the most optimistic climate models for the second half of this century suggest that 30 to 70 percent of the snowpack will disappear. “There’s a two-thirds chance there will be a disaster,” Chu said, “and that’s in the best scenario.”

  7. I don't think we are the ones causing it but I admit I don't know a lot about global warming. What pisses me off is that the people that truely believe it is caused by us don't do a whole lot about it. Even Al Gore rides in his own personal jet. If it was really caused by us we would be screwed because even the people that say they care don't do a whole lot about it.

  8. I think we should all take preserving the environment very seriously, but I wonder if global warming is media hype. Climatic changes have happened throughout history even without human interference.

  9. i think it is a scam. Sure, we have added CO2 emissions, but CO2 is a weak greenhouse gas. Plus, CO2 will just be sucked up by trees. The big one is methane. It is 23 times as powerful as CO2. It comes from melting permafrost in Siberia, along with cow flatulence.

  10. I don't believe in Global Warming. Scientists believe that the Earth has been around for thousands and thousands and thousands of years.... So explain to me how "us humans," who have only been on this Earth for what 5,000 years? Know the Earth’s natural patterns? We have only been able to monitor the weather for the past 100 years. So, how could our knowledge of the past 100 years compare to the Earths 500,000? It just doesn't make sense because we have such short-term memory on this subject. Now I believe in reducing our carbon emissions and not polluting the environment (some of it goes a little too far, if you ask me) but Global Warming....no.

*EDIT* There are just as many studies out there that are against Global Warming as there is for it. The problem? Only Global Warming is getting the spotlight because everything we hear and see is controled by the liberals, who control our media.

  11. i dont believe it is real... sry. cause, one, al gore said it, u know its not true.

also- facts. ok, mars heated up b4 us, b4 that, asteroid belt, b4 that, jupiter... see the trend? its called sun cycles. it has happened thruout history. dont worry.
