What's your take on the cam-whoring phenomenon?

Why do so many females (far more females than males) use web-cam sites like stickam and post sexual pictures of themselves on imageboards? They even go on cam when dozens of people are hurling insults on them..... Is the need for attention that strong?

they have low self esteem and think that any sort of attention is good.

Not real sure.  Maybe the need to feel desired over-rides their modesty.

It's a form of validation. In a culture where a woman's sexual appeal is the end all be all of her existence, it's a way to get validation. Even IF people are laughing at and insulting them (which many of the guys do), they believe that they are getting the attention because they are "s**y." And to them, that equates with "worthiness."

They are complicit in a system that seeks to dehumanize women, reducing them to s*x objects. Then they are nothing more than "things," to be laughed at, and used.

They are frequently too young to understand that just because they get attention for using their sexuality, it doesn't get them love. It generally "gets" them the exact opposite, and not from women, from men.
