  2. REYES

    CRWFORD

    BAY

    HAMELS

    RODRIGEZ

THEY ARE GOOD NOW AND WILL BE GOOD THEN

  3. Reyes, F-Rod, and Hamels are all NO BRAINERS.  You have to keep those 3 because they are all young and near the top at their respective positions.  I'd keep Crawford because he has the potential to be stud when fully healthy, and probably Joe Nathan as the fifth.  If he stays healthy nathan will post his 5th consecutive season with 35+ saves this season and this is pretty darn good.  With him and F-rod locked up you wouldnt have to worry AT ALL about drafting closers next year.  You can make a case for Longoria but I dont think he's proven enough this year to warrant keeping, and you could probably get him back in the draft if you really wanted since 3rd base can be somewhat deep.  Bay is good but OF is a deep position and fantasy wise he's not that much above average.  Bourn is pretty much only usefull for SB's right now, and Bedard seems to be declining after the move to Seattle.

UPDATE- F-rod has 40+ saves over the last 3 seasons and ALREADY has 28 this year which is 6 more at this point than ANY other closer in the league has.  Oh yeah and he's only 26 yrs old...anyone who says not to keep him in a keeper league has no business giving you advice.  Sure new closers come in every year, but he isnt going anywhere and neither are any of the great Starters that LA has had thus far this year.

  4. Defenitely keep K-Rod and Hamels both are hot right now

Also keep Reyes and Crawford giving you speed

and get Jason Bay he will give you some power on the team

  5. Longoria

    Crawford

    Reyes

    Hamels

    Rodriguez

  6. Easy question.

Jose Reyes: Not that much depth at SS and this guy has a lot of speed. Definitely worth keeping.

Carl Crawford: This guy also has a lot of speed. Keeping these 2 guys can definitely help you in steals in the long run.

Cole Hamels: This is a great SP, top 10 right now and will be one of the best.

Jason Bay: This guy has good power and is a good hitter.

Evan Longoria: There is a reason why this guy has gotten a lot of hype. He's going to be a great player in a team with a lot of potential.

Bedard seems to be like a fluke. Bourn can steal and thats it. And its not hard to get some saves, even if it is K-Rod or Nathan.

There you go: Reyes, Crawford, Bay, Hamels and Longoria. Good luck!

  7. Reyes

    Crawford

    K-Rod

    Hamels

Jason Bay (if his stats keep up)

  8. Jose Reyes--- This is quite clear, or at least should be if you plan on doing well anytime soon, as Reyes is a real threat in 3 categories.  He's only 25, and he's a perennial 60 SB threat, with 120+ runs and a high avg.  Even his HR #'s aren't bad, with potential to reach 20 this season.  Jose Reyes is a no-brainer as a keeper for a very, very long time.

Crawford-  This 26 year old is a definite keep.  Approaching 50 SB/ season for a potentially long period of time, his runs and average should also increase, and don't forget, he should be the core of a dangerous rays lineup for years to come.  Yes, I did say "Rays" and "Dangerous" in the same sentence.    Dropping him would be almost criminal, as this 3rd rounder would be gobbled up almost instantaneously by any vicious owner looking for speed on the basepaths.  In short, not keeping Crawford on your roster would be a huge mistake.

Erik Bedard- Don't be fooled by a bad Season.  This top 5 SP should be like fine wine, and only get better with age.  Joining a horrible Mariners squad, and shouldering unimpressive numbers, Bedard may be looked over in the offseason.  Don't make such a mistake, if you hope to compete for years to come.  His WHIP may be only mediocre, but predict big wins, and especially HUGE strikeout totals for many more yars, as this cat is only 29 years of age.  Consider this to be a fluky season, and, as the M's Offense progresses through the years, so should Bedard's pitching.

Cole Hamels- A 24 year old Strikeout machine.  That's the only way to describe Hamels that does him any justice.  A guy with a good WHIP, a great ERA, and excellent K's, what's more to want?  Oh yeah, a great offense in Philly, and with it, should come the wins.  As long as Rollins, Utley, Howard and crew don't go anywhere, neither should Hamels from your team.

And now, what's left?  Longoria, Bay, Bourn, Nathan, and K-Rod.

If you don't mind, let's do this slowly and methodically to get to the answer.  First, unless you're in some extremely deep league where SB threats cannot be found, don't even consider keeping Bourn.  His average, power, and RBI's at this point are too low, and you have a plethora of other options to consider.  Nathan's nice, but K-rod get's more opportunites, and their numbers are too comprable in other categories to give nathan any sort of edge.  With a smartly run, organized, and managed team in LA, the team should be a winner for a while, and K-rod should reap the benefits of close ball games.  With that, it's time to cross Nathan of the list.

As tempting as it is to keep the hot hand, Bay isn't really an option.  Longoria is 6 yeras his junior, has more talent, and plays on a more potent offensive team.  Looking at the "now", bay is the s**y pick.  But in a keeper league that goes on for who knows how many more years, longoria is a better option.  Additionally, Longoria's position (3B) is much more difficult to fill than outfield, and in this regard, his potential numbers their are only more daunting.

So, finally, it's the face off between longoria and k-rod.  To start, neither is really a bad choice, but, if you read an expert's column, you'll see that the way to go is with the everyday, position player.  Hindsight is 20/20, and so if longoria turns intoa bust 10 years down the road, please don't hunt me down.  (Although I really see the chance of this happening as minimal)  The right choice is to keep him, as his efforts will be felt every day, whereas K-rod helps in only a smaller, limited number of categories, and will not pitch every day.  The difference between him and another closer today may be astronomical, but believe me, the gap will close.  In a real deep league, look into a possible rafael betancourt for next year, as a joe borowski injury/explosion seems only too likely.  Believe me, keeping Longoria, and finding another closer in next year's draft is the right way to go.

Hope this helps....I'm looking to join a keeper league for next year, and so if your league has an extra spot, or you know a league I could join, plz let me know.
