What 5-speed transmission can use to swap for a 3-speed transmission

I have a 69 mustang and it has a 3 speed manual transmission and i would like to put a 5-speed transmission. I have heard that a 5 speed transmission of a 5.0 mustang or a Cobra will fit with the right adjustments.

your best choice is the T5 transmission used in the Mustang/Capri 5.0 from 1983 to 1993.  The same transmission (with minor updates) is used in 1994 and 1995 but I would stick to the earlier one.

Also when you get the T5 transmission try to get it with the crossmember also, it will help in the conversion process.
