  3. Farming ,

    handwork ,like sowing or weaving

    3. ability to make fire without matches.

    4. ability to make adequate shelter.

    5. ability to build a boat and get home.

finding water isn't a skill unless you're a water witch.

  5. making fire for warmth and signalling

making shelter protection from the elements

    finding and purifying water

eating only plants you are familiar with

    knowing basic first aid

these are basic  items we teach our scouts for survival in the bush(or anywhere for that matter all our guys are trained in Saint Johns basic first aid course  good for anyone to do)

  6. 1. find clean H20

    2. make a shelter

    3. find food

    4. create a boat

    5. make a fire

  7. Making fire - so you can boil water, cook food, stay warm, and make a signal fire.

Making rope - so that you can lash together shelter, drag building materials, perhaps lash a raft together.

Making or finding something water-tight - so you can carry water from place to place and keep your tinder and/or fire coal dry.

Knowing what is edible and what is not - for obvious reasons.

Knowing basic first aid - in case you are injured or blow it on the edible / non-edible skill.

I know you only wanted five, but I also think that being able to make one sharp cutting tool - such as a hand-axe - is important so that you can cut through underbrush, cut down small trees and bushes for building materials, skin small animals, cut up fish, etc.

Of course, depending on how close this island is to land, you might only need to know how to swim.

    Great question.
