  1. none nines are under powed and i just dont have any use for them!!!

  2. i would get a CZ-75. its a fine weapon, and not to many people use them so you would have something fairly unique.

  3. Everyone will have an opinion as to the best 9mm handgun.

There are a lot of good guns out there. I have sold Taurus, Glock, Sig, H&K, Ruger, S&W and a few others.

Go to a well stocked gunshop and look, touch and feel what fits best in your hands.

  4. If I were to get another nine it would be a Glock Model 19 or one of the Ruger "P" series.  I especially like the P-89 and have seen them for sale at Academy for less then $500.  The Glock would cost a bit more.

  5. First I would recommend a couple of trips to the area gunshops. Go over the different brands and check how the feel in your hand. Change your grip around and stance ie. weaver to open weaver to one hand.  From a face forward to a side angle ect. Compare the different sights and the 'picture' they present to you. Then look at the safety features and select what you are most comfortable with and which one would be safe in your house. Are you comfortable with a decocking feature, three point safety system, direct lock safety or like a few with no true safety just features.

As to a single manufacture, it is a matter of choice and to some degree cost. Ruger makes some very nice and very strong pistols as do Sig and SW. Is paying a little extra for a select name in your pricing? Myself I own several different pistols from different manufactures, some for target and plinking, some for hunting, and some for defense and training. My primary carry now is a FN49, I find it to be very reliable, accurate, and its comfortable in my hand. However it is not a pistol I would reccomend to a beginner due to its safety features.

Good luck in your search for a comfortable and safe selection.

  6. It depends what you are looking for and why you need it.  If you want a gun for just every once in a while shooting for fun but don't want to spend a lot of money, you need to by a high point.

  7. I always wanted a Browing Hi-Power.

I just like the "heft" of a firearm made with gun steel. I know this isn't popular these days, but I just don't like the feel/action of the Glock style "safety" trigger mechanisms. I have shot the Hi-Power Standard in 9mm before. Man! What a nice pistol. The newer model Hi-Power Mark III, I don't know anything about.

I have a Taurus pistol modeled after the Berretta 92 series pistols. I like the de-cocking mechanism that Taurus added to thier model of the Berretta classic. Taurus has a lifetime of the gun warranty also...can't beat that.

If you want some "range time" with a few different makes/models, go to an indoor range that rents firearms and try a few different makes and models.

  8. If you have the money, get an HK or a Sig.  Glocks are garbage compared to these.  If I were you, I'd bag the 9mm and get a 45 in a 1911 model.  Wilson combat and Kimber make GREAT 1911s.  They are more accurate, reliable, durable and MORE STOPPING POWER!!!

  9. I like Springfield Armory XDs, Ruger SR9, Taurus 24/7 pros, Beretta Px4 Storm I have shot and all but the Taurus I have owned or do own. My fav though is the XDs.

Your best bet is to go to a local gun shop and take a look at as many makes and models you can to see which one you like better and fits best.

As for 9mm, it is my favorite round. Cheap to take to the range, (well cheaper anyway), still a descent home protection round. Many of the local police by me still use 9mm by department requirements. My next favorite is the .45. Good luck and safe shooting.

  10. I have had good performance in the Glock.  They are very low maintenance and reliable.  It does take a bit of practice to get used to a Glock, but it is worth the effort.

  11. Forget about the 9mm.* The best choice is a 357 Magnum.* It is a no-nonsense man stopper.* Use 125 grain jacketed hollow points for self-defense ammo.* You can also shoot 38 caliber ammo in a 357 Magnum.* You get two (2*) handguns for the price of one.* Research it if you don't believe me.*

  12. First off, let’s dispel the myths that the 9mm is not a good cartridge

The FBI performance requirements for an ideal cartridge must have bullet expansion of .50" (1/2 inch) or more, and at least 12 inches of penetration in bare and clothed ballistic gelatin. Bullet penetration should not exceed 18 inches depth. 12 to 15 inches is considered the ideal range. The 9mm Luger meets these requirements with quality ammunition just as good as the .40 S&W and 45 ACP. The FBI tests don’t lie!

Below is a link to some cartridges to choose from, it is a compiled list of the cartridges the FBI tested to see if they meet the criteria mentioned above. Personally, I have two favorite rounds; my reasoning behind choosing them is strictly based on the energy/stopping power they possess. The first is the “Corbon 100 grain Power ball . . . it has 372 ft lbs of energy at 50 yds. The second is the Black Hills 124 grain JHP+P . . . . . it has 356 ft lbs of energy/stopping power at 50 yds.

As for gun I would choose . . . . The only thing I require from a handgun is that it accept +P ammo. Essentially, the chamber has been made in a fashion that it accepts ammo that has been loaded for high pressure guns. I am partial to Ruger, they are built like tanks, I have never seen one jam, and they eat every kind of 9mm ammo you can put in them. They were designed for consideration as the Military’s side arm, Berretta won the contract, so they are built to MILSPEC specifications . . . all Ruger semi-autos are. The fact that they are American made is another consideration that I feel is important.  There are bunches of 9mm pistols to choose from, but Ruger gives you the most bang for your buck. I’ll admit, it’s not the prettiest piece, and it’s not a good choice for concealed carry, but it’s plenty accurate, and they can usually be had for about $300 used. A $17 Hogue rubber molded single piece slip over grip, helps the aesthetics and feel a great deal.

  13. What handgun fits your hand better. Everyone has their opinion on what handgun is better than the other one. I used a Glock 17 9mm for police training a few months ago and it worked alright. I own a few Beretta 92FS pistols and they work just as well. I like the grip and trigger better on the Beretta but I would also say if you like the Glock go for it.

The Springfield XD 9mm I thought would have been a great conceal pistol since it was smaller than my Beretta. The Beretta spanked the Springfield in performance. The XD would jam all the time and even fail to fire over half the rounds in the mag. I had to use the Beretta to fire off those rounds. I had Springfield 1911's that even had trouble. I'm happy to be done with my Springfields. I'm looking towards Kimber to replace my 1911.

I have had good luck with both the Beretta and the Glock 17 I dont think you would have a problem with either pistol. Take care of the pistol and be safe and shooting will be fun.

  14. all a matter of choice.

    browning---bereta...sig

    I have a sigP226

  15. I like the H&K USP 9

  16. go with a makarov. 9X18.  I have always wanted one.  Depends what you want to use it for.  I hate sigs.  except the GSR.  9mm is a decent round.  Not my round of choice though.  H&K USP series are execellent.  Usp Compact.  Glocks are awesome very user frendily and reliable.  Stay away from Beretta.  Springfield Armory among other companies, Makes 1911's in 9mm.  Walther is ganing my trust also.  Specifically their P99.  Bottom line go with your gut.  If you like 9mm and you feel it is a good enough round.  Go for it.  I cant make a decision for you. If i could I would tell you to get a 1911 in 45. cal

    Hope this helped.
