What About You?

What About You ?

Where were you when the stuff went down

Where were you when you heard the sound

What did you do when you watched the news

What did you do when you saw those views

Did you sit and stare with shock and dismay

Did you scream and holler that someone must pay

Does it make you want to fight for your freedom

Does it make you want to find them and beat them

Was this what it took to make you see more clearly

Was this what it took to cherish life so dearly

Why is it now that you’re ranting and raving

Why is it now that you’re so flag waving

Maybe now you’ll voice yourself loudly

Maybe now you’ll stand up more proudly

Don’t wait for it to happen to you

Don’t wait for it to be red white and blue

Now is the time to show what you’re made of

Now is the time nothing to be afraid of

You don’t have to die there at ground zero

You don’t have to bleed to be a hero

Heart felt words from one who has loved, lost and God willing WE will win in the end!

*I absolutely love the last line, a message for my son, he feels standing guard at the Capital is an unworthy service....

  3. Great poem full of heart and pride.  I really wish more people would realize that just because we may hate what is happening we still love our country and support our troops just as they would still love their country and support their troops if they were in the same situation.

There are things we can do to end the conflict and I know that hate, in any form, is not the answer.  Well done.

I got tired of all the hate and generalizations being spewed at Americans so I wrote a semi-patriotic poem a while back and it wasn't received very well.  If you'd be interested in seeing it, here it is.
