I have three 10" Subs, two amps, and the amps total 1700watts RMS and the subs total 1400watts RMS. I drive an 01 Chevy Cavalier 2.2L and I was wondering what kind of alternator do I need, and where I can get it. I also wondering if I need a capacitor too.

  1. Before you get an alternator.....

Get a 4 or 5 farad bat cap and an Optima yellow or red top battery.

Have a mechanic or audio store check your current with the system on. They will know what to do.

  2. you dont need a cap. you should try finding a local alt rebuild shop and see if they can crank you alt up or try http://www.ohiogen.com/index.html they make great alts. do the Big 3 first http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/foru... then get the alt and you might not need a deep cycle battery unless your battery not is c**p
