What Am I------?

Question

I am found in all cricketers lockers.I am a necessity.Some players have many of me, some just a few. I am always the same colour. You probably wouldn't want to know me after a long hot day on the field, but nonetheless I would be taken home to appear again the next day. What Am I ?

well a "protector" or "box" springs to mind

as does socks (nearly always white and you wouldnt want to go near them after a hot day)

as a last resort i would also say underwear!

EDIT: possibly a hat or cap or helmet as well
