  1. everyone is a little different. Today many Americans don't really eat at home much except for dinner.

for breakfast (at home) it's usually something easy and quick like poptarts, cereal, oatmeal, toast, eggs, bagels, muffins

for lunch (at home) most people don't eat lunch at home but if they do it's simple things like a turkey sandwich or sandwich of some sort and chips or a lot of people eat a salad

dinner (at home) is usually different every night ranging from spaghetti, meatloaf, roast, chicken of some sort, or they make a mexican/italian/asian style cusine whatever mood fits them. A lot of people just go to McDonalds or fast food.

It all depends. In this day and age Americans are always busy and on the run so we don't eat much at home anymore.

  2. Food that you find in American restaurants is different from what you find in the average American home. Restaurant food tends to be really high in calories and is very meat-oriented.

I am a vegan so I eat only plant-based foods like vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes and beans, oils, and meat/dairy alternatives.  This diet/lifestyle is very far from the Standard American Diet (SAD) though, which is high in fat, cholesterol, and calories.

Before I was vegan, I remember eating a lot of meat and dairy and I was overweight.  The SAD coupled with low-exercise is the reason that 2/3 of Americans are overweight.

  3. breakfast: captain crunch cereal, milk, orange juice, bananas, cinnamon doughnuts coffee

lunch: tuna fish sandwiches with mayonnaise, barbecue flavored doritos, coca cola

dinner: macaroni with tomato sauce, grilled steak, mustard potato salad, iced tea, fudgsicles

  4. Breakfast...   eggs (any way), bacon, sausage, hash browns, toast

                        cereal or oatmeal,

                        just toast,

                        muffins,

                        fruit,

                        french toast or waffles

    Lunch...        sandwiches with chips

                        salads

                         little frozen entrees

                         soups

Supper...        meat (pork, beef, chicken...) with potatoes and veggie

                         soups and sandwich

                         casseroles

                         fish

tonight it is bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches with

                        corn on the cob

  5. Cereal, hot cereal, eggs, bacon, and more. It varies. You can check several sites or google 'american breakfast' for sources.

  6. i always have yougurt with granola and sometimes bananas or other mixed fruit for breakfest

for lunch depends on the day but for supper (i live in the midwest) we love potatoes with gravy, steaks, pork chops (iowa chops yum), fish, burgers sometimes, pizza, chicken and sometimes we like to have breakfeast foods for supper like pancakes, eggs etc.

You can do alot more in your home unfortunatly eating out here there are alot of fast food choices try finding a more sit down place like perkins, ihop (pancakes) tgif, the olive garden (italian), or maybe a mexican place like chipotle or even a subway (sanwiches) or even ask the locals or a tour guide to recomend you a place that would serve a home cooked meal they will most likely know the best places around!!

  7. You just saw tourist food.  Esp. out in California, there's a lot of that.

Breakfast is some of the following:

hot or cold cereal w/ milk

    Bacon or Sausage, maybe Ham

Eggs cooked av ariety of ways

    buttered toast

    cottage cheese and fruit

    yogurt and fruit

    muffins, biscuits, bagels

    Lunch:

    salads

    meat sandwiches w/ lettuce/tomato,

if eating out, most often it is things like burgers, french fries (chips in UK),

    soup, salad

    Dinner:

Pork chops, roast beef, baked chicken

roast potatoes or veggies, rice, noodles

    salads, veggies

  8. Sounds like you made the fast-food circle here in the states.  Depending on which part of the country your in, you'll find that we eat alot of different things.  For example:

Breakfast can consist of anything from yogurt, fruit and muffins to grits, bacon or sausage, eggs, potatos and biscuits!

Lunch can be pretty eclectic, as most Americans eat out at least once a week.  But, it can consist of everything from a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to Thai take out!

Dinner can be eclectic as well:  spaghetti, meatballs, swiss steak, barbecue, salad, pot roast, chicken, rice and beans etc.

Here's what I have in my home most of the time:

Breakfast:  fresh orange juice, whole grain toast, scrambled eggs and cheese.

Lunch:  when I don't go out, I usually have soup, or cottage cheese and fruit, or even a turkey rollup.

Dinner:  grilled meat or chicken, fresh green beans or asparagas, potatos or rice.

    Simple but yummy!
