French fries weren't invented in America, but potato chips were. Chop suey was invented by a Chinese chef living in California. Fortune cookies were invented in either San Franciso or Vancouver (depending on who you ask). Fajitas are strictly Tex-Mex, not Mexican. Jambalaya, roast aligator, biscuits and gravy, fried okra, grits, sweet potato biscuits, chicken & dumplings, Carolina barbecue, and succotash are all Southern favorites that generally aren't seen anywhere else. Oh, and then there's Everclear, lol. And Coca-Cola, for that matter.
