I saw on the proms, that when they zoomed in on the Harps, they had coloured strings.

  1. I not positive about a harp.... however they will usually color code strings tell them apart during re-stringing. It designates which string it is.

  2. Similar to they way in which pianos are set up in a repeated pattern of black and white keys, the coloured strings on the harp help the player to know which string is which. If they weren't there it would be very easy to get 'lost' in the multitude of similar looking strings of a harp.
