What Basic Curve and Power should I choose for my contact lens?

I want to just get color contacts. I don't have any vision problems nor do i wear glasses. I just want to get some colored contacts and i was going to order them off the internet but I don't know what my basic curve is or power. And what does the power mean anyway?

The base curve is determined by the curvature of your eye.  It is measured by the optometrist when fitting the contact lenses.  The power is the prescription that is in the lens.  In your case it would be 'plano'.  

You will need to have an eye Dr. fit the contact lenses for you to know the base curve of the lens you will need.  You will also need a prescription from an eye doc to get the lenses off of the internet.  The internet company will contact your doc for authorization that they are sending you the properly fitted lenses in the correct power.  You should not be able to just order contact lenses on line without a proper fitting by a doc.

it is illegal (because it is not safe) in the US to purchase contacts without a valid prescription from an eye doctor, even with no power in the lens. the base curve describes the fit that only an eye doctor can determine is correct for you.

Even though you have good vision you will still need to see an eye Dr. to be fitted with contact lenses and the Dr. will make the decision on base curve, diameter  and brand of the lens that will best fit your eyes.   After the fitting you will be instructed on inserting and removing a pair of trial lenses. Once you can put the lenses in and take them out by yourself and been instructed on proper care and use such as length of  wear, hygiene and storage you will be given your C/L R/X.  During the insertion and removal instruction or after you demonstrate you can put em in and take em out you will be able to try on different colors.   Good Luck.
