Question:

What Bottom Brackets are compatible with an FSA Gossamer Compact Crank?

Hello,

I am looking to upgrade my current FSA Megaexo BB6000 to a ceramic set. I was wondering if any of the BB from SRAM, shimano or the FSA ceramic BB8000 would be compatible with my current FSA gossamer compact crank (the FSA website says their Ceramic BB fits the SLK and K-Force, and doesn't list Gossamer).

Would I have to upgrade my crankset as well?

Any opinions and advice would be great!

Thanks,

A.

  1. Why not upgrade to a new crank too.  The ceramic bearings will help, but for a Gossamer?  You have to be very, very strong to need the Gossamer (which is stiffer than lower end FSA carbon cranks) over a carbon crankset and there is a large weight penalty.  I'm not convinced upgrading to ceramics  for a bottom bracket is money well spent.

However, DO get ceramics for your wheelset if possible.  That really makes a difference.
