What CAUSES an itchy throat?

Question

I'm right at the ned of my cold, which started with a sore throat, blocked nose and ears, and a runny nose, which then turned into a nasty cough. Now i'm getting an itchy throat, which makes my eyes water and of course, I cough and cough!

My question is, what is the cause of an itchy cough? Obviously my cold, but what actually makes my throat itchy?

If you've got a cold it's probably a sinus drip, basically fluid from your sinuses draining down the back of your throat.

i have that too. rlly annoying. but i dont cough, i sneeze
