  1. Black widow spiders are nocturnal and, thus, are active at night. They prefer dark corners or crevices. They are said to avoid human dwellings, but you can find them in such areas as outhouses and garages. Only the female black widow bites humans, and she bites only when disturbed, especially while protecting her eggs.

If you ever think that you've been bitten by a black widow spider, tell an adult immediately. Black widow spider bites rarely kill people, but it's important to get medical attention as soon as you can because they can make you very sick. With an adult's help, wash the bite well with soap and water. Then apply an ice pack to the bite, and try to elevate the area and keep it still to help prevent the spread of venom (poison).

Doctors treat people who have been bitten by black widow spiders with medications to help relax the muscles and reduce pain. They sometimes give antivenin, a medication that fights the venom in the spider's bite, if someone who has been bitten has underlying medical problems or doesn't get better from the other medications.

  2. there are black widows were i live to and i gotta say they arn't my fav. well first of all you should try not to get bitten. look in your shoes before putting them on and othher random procotions li9ke that but if you do end up getting bitten GET TO A DOCTOR ASAP. it can be life threting better safe than sorry.

  3. Initially do these things:

    Clean and irrigate the wound.

Application of ice or cool compresses.

Pain medication, muscle relaxants if available.

Then get your behind to the hospital for antivenom!!!

  4. The really imporant thing to do is go to the docter fast.

  5. You usually don't die from a black widow's bite, but it does happen.  More often you just get real sick and would have to be treated at the hospital.  It's not like you die or get sick instantly, either -- you would have plenty of time to get to the hospital.

Black widows are shy spiders -- they don't like to be messed wtih so they aren't out to get you.

If you have to move objects around your house, wear gloves.  Most bites occur when you uncover a piece of wood or other object and your hand is right next to the spider in her nest, but they can't bite through leather or thick cloth gloves.

When I have to move rubbish, I wear gloves and when I uncover an object I am very careful about disturbing the black widows.
