I considered St. Monica, mother of St. Augustine, who prayed for her son to turn away from evil and toward God. Which he eventually did. If there is a saint who is the patron for patience of even loving souls I would like that.

  1. Well, you heard the phrase, "patience of a Saint?"

    They all were.

I like Simeon the Stylite 397AD whose motto was "Dig ever deeper."

I don't know if he was a Saint or not.

He was an Arab that lived thirty years on a pillar. (No internet yet back then).

    God love you!

  2. I think that St. Max Kolbe is a great one. In the face of the n**i's, he took what they gave him with patience, tolerance AND forgivness. Did he fight back? No. Did he take up arms? No. He sat in an underground bunker after taking someone else's spot, starving to death until they killed him by injecting acid into his veins.

  3. Catholics have the weirdest beliefs. Give it to the Vatican. Sure has them all duped!

  4. St. Terese, the Little Flower.

Edit: And St. Joseph as well.

  5. Most " saints " were monks who were nothing but street brawling thugs as well as cut throats . It wasn't until modern times { the 20th century } that Christianity and the RCC in particular became even semi civilized . Religion is NOT a civilizing influence look at the recent arrests in Anaheim of the motorcycle gang belonging to the set free baptist church . Why the Feds keep giving them money to " reform " people is beyond me .

  6. I would think every saint went through many trials starting with St. Paul, St Francis, St Augustine, St Teresa the Little Flower, St Theresa of Avila, St Rita, St Dymphna among so many others.

I saw a show on EWTN about a man who died in the 1950s who has been submitted for sainthood, he tried to be a priest twice but was released from the first one and the second one didn't think he was smart enough. They let him be ordained but he could not preach nor hear confessions, so he became a porter in the rectory.  He suffered many trials but soon was known for his holiness

    his name is Solanus Casey.

  7. Probably Saint Augustine

"Patience is the companion of wisdom".

    Also, St Jude

(not the same person as Judas Iscariot who betrayed Our Lord).

St. Jude, known as Thaddaeus, was a brother of St. James the Less, and a relative of Our Saviour. St. Jude was one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus.

St Jude is invoked in desperate situations because his New Testament letter stresses that the faithful should persevere in the environment of harsh, difficult circumstances, just as their forefathers had done before them. Therefore, he is the patron saint of desperate cases

  8. Yes most saints have many trials that they face some of which they never let be known but St Teresa the Little Flower, St Theresa of Avila, St Rita are some of my favorites.

  9. St. Francis de Sales or St. Gertrude
