  1. There aren't many cold water fish that are small enough to fit in home aquaria when fully grown. Goldies are pushing it. They get big, and are very messy. See if your local pet store can order you some Tanichthys. They are in the same family as golds, but stay somewhat smaller.

  2. i dont know how big the tank is

try white cloud mountain minnows/danios they need 1.5 gallons each and need a minimum school of 6

or leopard/mosquito fish they need about 2 gallons each

possably a paradise fish i know they can live in cooler water but im not sure on its specifications

  3. Most killifish will do fine at room temperatures but finding them and keeping more than a few together is the biggest draw back.  Panchax killies are the most likely to get along with other fish in a community environment.  You can keep gold or rosy barbs with them in a heaterless tank because they are hardy fish from the carp family.  Danios would also be possible tank mates.

Hi fin sharks are peaceful fish often kept with goldfish and koi in ponds but they can get very large.  I like the way they look and swim so they would be one of my choices.

If your bi orb tank is less than 20 gallons, you need small fish like white cloud mountain fish or endler guppies.  You can keep cherry shrimp with them since they are one of the hardiest freshwater shrimp species.

Many tropical fish tolerate a broad temperature range and can be kept at room temperature.  In a normally heated house, winter temperatures should not fall below 65 degrees.  (Water tends to stay a few degrees above air temperature when it is cold)  Hardier cichlid species can usually tolerate this temperature range without problems.  I do not use heaters in my angel fish tanks or with my electric blue peacocks and they breed like crazy!  So your choices are more than you probably thought originally.

  4. I've heard of something called a White Cloud Minnow? That's about the only other cold water fish you can get that I'm aware of.
