What Colour Goes With Chestnut?

My stallion needs new everything: rug, headcollar etc for winter. I was going to get it all in one colour. do you think red would look too much against his ginger coat.

He is chestnut all over, but with a white stripe down his face and three white socks, so basically mainly chestnut

  1. He is not going to mind the color. It is more of a cosmetic thing for us. After all he won't really be able to tell anyway. Red is fine if that is what you want to go with, it may be pretty bright at first but when it gets dirty.. it won't be. Good luck.

  2. I think green looks fabulous on a chestnut.

  3. bright blue looks good with my chesnut and also i think lilac looks nice.

  4. NOT RED!!!!!  lol trust me it looks awful!!

i have a chestnut myself and i have her in green and it looks fab!

    green/black or green/navy.

  5. Baby Blue Looks AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. green and PURPLE is great

  7. I dont like warm colours (like red, yellow, orange) on chesnuts....its too much...but hunter green looks amazing on them...you could try a beige plaid  too...or navy blue...royal blue...

  8. Red doesn't really work with chestnut.

Black, dark green, dark blue or white look good though.

Or purple as long as it's dark not pastel-ish

  9. reds, pinks, yellows, and oranges do not look the best on chestnuts unless they are a darker chestnut. in this case it would look kinda weird. go for blue or green colors.

  10. Dark blue, or dark green.

  11. My chestnut looks amazing in lime green! I also have a plain ol' black halter which looks great on him.

  12. a light or bright blue would look really good on him, no dull colors

  13. I think chestnuts are one of the tougher coat colors to match with. I like to stick with boring blacks and whites for my sorrel gelding but i also think navy or royal blue looks nice too. I actually didn't like Hunter green on him  much which was a disappointment since green is my favorite color. Surprisingly, i don't mind the way one of my deep wine red colored saddle pads looks on him. I thought it would be awful but actually turned out OK.

  14. Anything without a red tone - navy blue and hunter green look great, or a brighter shade of one of those colors would look nice too.

  15. Personally I like bright purple with chestnut.

  16. i have sort of a periwinkle on my chestnut that sounds to look a bit like yours.

and i looks marvelous. also i think hunter green looks GREAT on chestnuts.

  17. red and green look the best on chesnuts in my opinion (my friend has a chesnut and his "color" is red and its really pretty)

green looks good against their coat also
