i will say Atherton vs donald was one of the great contests in a match.

However for me, Sachin Tendulkar vs Shane Warne, was a mouth watering propect all the time. Two legends of the game going at it. You would have to say though Sachin Came out on top more often than not.

Both are geniuses of the game, but Sachin most of the time out foxed him. When Australia Toured india in 1998, thats probaly the best of the Sachin vs Warne era. The way Sachin Slog swept Warne out of the rough and danced down the track to Warne was exciting. The Classic example being at chennai, where Warne got Sachin out caught behind for only 4, then in the 2 innings, sachin smashed 155, including 5 sixes.

Sachin vs Glen mgrath and Murali have also been exciting to watch. And Sachin vs The Pakistani Quick bowlers.

Other Great contest have been Brian Lara vs glen mgrath and the pakistani quicks. And ricky ponting vs bhaji.

  1. I enjoyed Murali's magical spell [7w &30r] in coco cola cup 2000/01 against India.

Also, Anil Kumble's [10 wickets in an innings] spell against Pakistan in 1999

  2. Ajay Jadeja vs Waqar Younis at world cup quarter final 1996 & Sachin Tendulkar vs Glen McGrath or Shane Warne.

  3. Ishanth Sharma's spell to Ricky Ponting in the VB test series held in Australia 2008

  4. Yuvraj Singh hitting 6 sixes in one over against stuart broad. That was SO thrilling I almost felt like crying. And stuart Broad bowled some rubbish balls when Yuvraj had hit 3 sixes on the 4th ball of the over sturt broad bowled a full toss A FULL TOSS IN THAT SITUATION! HA HA HA HA HA

PS. I promise the Muddu guy that I didn't copy him

  5. Sachin vs Warne was awesome....the best bowling and batting competition i have seen..

but tht recent aus tour of india...where ishant sharma bowled to ponting in the perth test match was simply amazing..

cnt get enough of seeing tht contest...

    it was a good spell...

  6. Atherton vs Donald, Johannesburg 1995.

Atherton batted for 10h 43m (the whole of the fourth and fifth days' play!) for his test best 185 not out to secure a draw, while Donald came steaming in for 35 overs at him.

England entered the final day needing a highly improbable 312 more runs to win, with only 6 wickets left...4 of those being Cork, Gough, Fraser & Malcolm, a long tail even by England's standards. Atherton took 6h24m to reach his hundred...at the other end Russell spent 72 minutes on 25, eventually finishing 29 not out in 4h34m!

  7. Sachin Tendulkar & Shane Warne is always good to watch.

  8. I believe Brian Johnson described it best when he said, "Good afternoon from Lord's, where the bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey."

  9. Until a better one comes along, for me it will always be the battle of Trent Bridge in 1998 between Mike Atherton and Alan Donald. It started when Athers got a nick behind off Donald's bowling and didn't walk, it then became sheer bloody-mindedness by Atherton and frustration by Donald.

  10. Tendulkar Vs Ajantha Mendis will be interesting

  11. McGrath - Sachin

    Akram - Sachin

    Akhtar - Sachin

    Akhtar - Dhoni

    Ishant - Ponting

    Brett Lee - Sachin

  12. Yuraj hitting 6 sixers during T20 of Broads bowling - Its a thrilling and the most exiting 6 ball over.. I enjoyed the most - and i hope someday some batsman would repeat the same.

  13. It's very exciting to watch Sachin hitting boundaries & sixes of Shane Warne's ball!

  14. Tendulkar vs. Warne was the greatest thriller of all time.

Tendulkar vs. Hogg was amazing too

Tendulkar vs. Ajantha Mendis will be great.

  15. Shoad Akhtar bowling to Sachin Tendulkar and getting hammered like anything.
