Alright so i am interested in being a special agent for the FBI. Probably in the street crime unit. I am planning on learning Japanese. Right now I have just started my second year of college, and I am not quite sure what degree to pursue for this kind of position.

My academic adviser suggested sociology/criminology/law enforcement which is a BA. Would this help me or is it just a worthless degree that won't get me any where? Thank you in advance for the help guys feel free to leave suggestions. I would prefer to not become a lawyer or accountant in the process by the way.

  1. Those classes you mentioned are a preamble to law enforcement. Yes they are helpful and learning several languages only enhance your resume. Good luck in your quest. You'll be a fine officer.

  2. I talked to the representatives at a career fair a few years ago, they told me it didn't really matter what degree plan you followed, as long as you had a 4 year. They told me you would learn everything when you went to the academy.

I would also not expect them to "recruit" you, you have to apply. Learning japanese? Are you thinking of the CIA? I'm not sure what learning japanese would have to do with the FBI, spanish maybe, but japanese?
