Question:

What Difference Between Crime And Property Values With And Without A Business?

They want to put a daycare/church in the dessert right behind our house. There is a meeting to protest this, but we need statistics showing the rise in crime and the decrease in property value near a business.

Please make sure you add a good source, we need to be able to debate this.

  1. The statistics may well prove you wrong.

Anything regarding property values depends on three things you've probably heard before, and which you fail to reference:

    1) LOCATION

    2) LOCATION

    3) LOCATION

  2. I don't see opening of a daycare in the neighborhood will increase the crime and affect the property value. In fact, a good neighborhood with good value should be close to a supermarket, freeway, restaurants, post office, etc. but far away from liquor stores, convenient stores, bars, casino, disco. Those businesses that attract gangs gathering or human conflict happen will do affect the crime rate in the neighborhood and affect value.
