I love real estate.. ever since i was about 13 and i watched Flip That House on TLC.. and many other shows like it.. i would love to take on real estate as a part time job for the fun and maybe when i retire from pharmacy i could take it up as my retirement hobby or so...

any tips on how to become a successful real estate agent. what are some of the bonus qualifications that i could get to make me a very good real estate agent?

Why not see what the state licensing requirements are and try taking some of the course work to see if you really like it.

Some brokers have personality profiling tools under their careers link on their wesites that might help you to gain insight in to whether or not real estate would be a good fit for you.

Not needing income is a great qualifier for getting in to real estate as there are no guarantees that you will make any. Having an extensive network of friends and family who could help you generate business would be another good thing. If you like Flip this House and those fantasy shows, maybe you should join a local chapter of REIA (real estate investors association) to learn about the real world of investing. It might also help you to understand what investors are looking for in a real estate agent.

In this market, it is dog eat dog. The NAR says that the average number of transactions per Realtor per year is something like 2 so there are a lot of people you treat real estate as a hobby, but they don't make any money at it.
