so we bought a JVC hdtv.(http://www.meijer.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=76999) and i was wondering if i needed an antena so i could get a signal or do i just leave it how it is since It already has the hdtv thing on it. because old tv's have the converter box to get a hd signal then they wont need antena but this is a new tv so it wouldnt need antena and it doesnt need the box either because it is already an hdtv

Do I need an antena so the tv will work?

Can i just connect it without an antena and it will get a signal?

please answer both questions

  1. go to this site you can find there what type of antena you might need

  2. You still need an antenna. You would need an antenna if you had a converter box also.

Digital TV broadcasts do not magically show up in your HDTV. They are transmitted over the air just like analog TV broadcasts.

In North America, analog and digital broadcasts use the same antennas.

As for what type of antenna you need, that depends on your location. In general, any antenna that gives you good analog reception will probably be good for digital as well. I've picked up digital stations with just a 7" wire stuck in the antenna connector.

  3. You need an antenna. The converter boxs need an antenna. unless you have cable or satellite.
