I'm writing a script with an amateur/low totem poll boxer as the lead character and I want it to be realistic - what do boxers do for a living when they're not boxing?

  1. Most bottom rum fighters usually have some part time crappy job. Because boxing wont allow you to have a full time job and be competitive.

Rocky was a collector for a loan shark, Joe Frazier before he made it big was a bouncer i believe. Jim Braddock worked on the docks. Basically any part time S****y job would be a good pick.

How about Bartender like Tony Galento, i think he actually owned the bar.  Alot of low level fighters work as leg men or body guards for local kingpins. Alot of boxers have shady pasts.

How about a janitor in Madison square gardens, always cleaning the ring dreaming of one day to be fighting inside it.

  2. they could do anything really. I saw one time a boxer who was from Africa who worked in a gold mine and another boxer who there was a special about who was working as a garbage collector. They could have any job from selling real estate, to being a janitor, to training other fighters. It all depends on what other skills this person has.

  3. Any job they can do. They are just normal people like me and you, so why shouldn't they do the same jobs? Normally the do something physical for the extra training effect, but especially amateur boxers do the full range of jobs. ( I personally know amateurs that are: carpetner, tiler, warehouse clerk, several policemen, and a lawyer)

  4. Work In Detroit

  5. Back in my old country I worked in the fields when I was not training for a fight. I had to quit because I had too many concussions.

  6. Regulr jobs just like you and I.

Jose Armando Santa Cruz who is a pretty decent boxer is a Parking Valet at an LA nightclub

Edner Cherry works for a furniture moving company.

    Rob Calloway owns a  heathclub.

Honestly only the very top 1% of boxers make enough from boxing that they do not have to work.

  7. My uncle is a up and coming  fighter right now..He actually teaches boxing to teenagers and adults when he's not in training..He really likes doing that. He also trains kids for the golden gloves too. However, a lot of my uncles friends who are also fighters do a number of different things, One is a math teacher, the other a bartender, so many different things..

  8. One Filipino boxer from Olongapo city became a holdupper, and one great Filipino boxer from General Santos was a drunkard who waits for a grace from Manny Pacquiao's winnings.

  9. terry marsh, who was light welter champ in 1987, was also a firefighter,

i believe butterbean was a bouncer,

  10. They do the crappy jobs that allow everyone to go on with there lives like garbage men, mail men, moving companys, mecanhics, plumbers.

ONLY the ELITE level of fighters but i mean the CREAM OF THE CROP the SUPERSTARS are the ones who can afford to do whatever they want and take one fight a year. The other guys just do boxing as a love for the sport
