  1. As an FYI to our previous responders, CIS firstly is not slacking, with the rise in petition and form costs, they have hired hundreds of extra workers, secondly, CIS aka INS, is not in charge of stopping the invasion" of illegal aliens, that would be shared by CBP and ICE.

CIS is a great way to centralize immigration proceedings and practices in order to legally give people the chance to start a life for themselves in the US. Are there flaws in the system? Absolutely, their applications are pricey, they take a long time, and at times it seems as if there is no hope. I can say that the time periods have risen in the past 7 or so years, but security checks are in place to protect US Citizens. Yes, when going through the process it may be angering and annoying, but everyone should keep in mind that once they are a legal resident or citizen of the US, those provisions to protect that once stalled their case, will now protect them as well.

  2. I called the USCIS and they were very helpful on the phone.  They processed my Visa request very quickly.  On the other hand I find the US Embassy to be rather surely and insolent.

How can they charge $120 dollars for an interview, make me wait 3 hours and then deny without even asking for any information.  They say they don't have money but they spend billions building the Taj Hahal of embassies in Baghdad.

  3. That they have a huge job to do and aren't doing enough to stop this illegal  invasion of our country.

  4. Like all government agencies - they are useless.

  5. They are understaffed, redundant (which makes the staffing problem worse) and they don't care...just like every other government office.

  6. I think they are both great! They definitely make things better.

  7. They are slow, too much paper work, its called bureaucracy.

  8. It's full of lazy government employees who could care less about immigration. It's unorganized and many of the workers were immigrants themselves and only care about getting former nationals like themselves into the US. I have been to the local USCIS office and I havecontacted them thru the phone and I feel like I am talking to a call center employee.

  9. They have a job to do just like everyone else. Evidently they've been slacking off.
