  1. What is learned will vary a lot from state to state, school to school, and even from one teacher to the next.  What is considered advanced work at one school, may be below-level work at another, because there are no consistent national educational plans in our country.  And in most states, there is no real consistent educational plan for the entire state.

That said, a good place to get an idea of what students might typically learn in a particular grade is WorldBook.com 's website.  Look for their "typical course of study" section.

  2. Algebra 1 and 2, Advanced World History, English Literature (classic short stories and plays), English Grammar and Compostion, Health, Earth Science (Astronomy, Meterology, etc.)

9th grade generally starts Geometry, Biology, Foreign Langauge, more History, more English, Arts and crafts, Shops, PE with showers daily.

  3. I think you should just wait and find out or have your Mom call the local school you would be going to and ask. It is different depending on what state you live in so no one can give you a definate answer. I suggest your Mom find out for you.

  4. HEy im in 8th grade right now ???

history: sc state history so u will prob learn 4 wuteva state u live in

math: (4 me: algebra 1P2) but 4 you either math 8: distribtive properity

Pre-algebra: basic algebra into 2 algerbra

    2(5+6)= 10 +12= 22 OR 2(a+6)= 2a + 12

find out what school you would go to and google for ur school website (even private schools have 1!) that should help alot!

make sure that you noe the school rules and the dress code!!!!

  5. stuff you dont learn in 7th or 9th grade

  6. Math is usually algebra 1, science is physical science (a mixture of physics and chemistry), English is the same stuff you've always been learning in english lol,  Social Studies is the Civil War, and most people take a second language as well.

  7. I'm in advanced classes, but here's what typical 8th graders take: (I think)

Math: Pre-Algebra (Advanced is Algebra 1)

Science: Earth/General Science, although some schools I think are doing a pre-Chemistry/pre-Physics combo

    English/Literature/Composition: each school varies

History: I did Ancient World history (Greeks, Persians etc.) but I think you normally with do American History, World History, or possible your state history (I think that's 7th grade, though)

Here's a tip: find out what publi school you will be attending, and find the website. Most will have the sylabus of classes for each grade listed on there somewhere. It would be a whole lot more accurate than my guessing!

  8. Each gr. 8 teacher is going to have different books for the kids to read for Language Arts. Other than that, you'll need to look on the web for your state's learning outcomes (or curriculum or whatever term they will have). You'll find this at the state's government education site--search for _yourstate education_ and it should come up.

To be honest, history and science probably won't make a difference in terms of starting high school. Your ability to read, write and be on par with math will be most important. You can find grade 8 reading lists online and try to make your way through as many as you can and learn how to write essays, research reports, poems and other creative writing. If you read at least an hour every day, write for 30-60 minutes a day, use writing and grammar and other guides from the library, you should be fine. For math, just get a grade-level math text and do it. If things are shaky, spend extra time doing extra practice.

  9. Each state is a little different, so you would have to go to your state education agency and check out scope and sequence charts or even check out the standardized testing they use for an idea in math, history, language arts and science.

In Texas, Language Arts is just basic 8th grade English, very standard. Math is General Math with an intro to Algebra 1, science is Earth Sciences and history is US history.

If you are planning on returning to the publicschool, in addition to knowing what type of work you would or should be doing in 8th grade, you really should look in to admissions policies for homeschool students in your district. You would be looking for the type of transcript they will accept (whether they will accept a parent generated transcript or if they require a transcript from an accredited school) and if there is any testing involved.

If they require placement tests, make sure you know what these tests will cover, and ask for study guides.

    best of luck to you.

  10. Nothing if you have bad teachers like I do. But I'm in the 11th now.

  11. Believe me they don't get ahead. Even I feel that way sometimes but they don't.

I would stick with the boat ur in but if you wish to go then brush up on your math....everything else was pretty easy to catch
