  1. Go with CABLE!!!  Satellite needs a box for every TV in your house. The signal fades in bad weather or high wind. (Sometimes it moves the dish.) The movies on many channels are 'compressed' to save bandwidth. I like my constant 1080i signal from cable. Also, the satellite dish must face Southwest.. Had nothing but trouble with it. Even better than cable is FIOS, (fibre Optic) if it is available in your area.? (Verizon)

  2. Neither is cheaper than the other.  Sure, they each offer great signup deals that look cheaper, until the time limit expires and you're still committed for another year.

Let's see, DISH lost my business because they kept adding on more charges each month, such as a 'programming charge' for each receiver that wasn't hooked up to a telephone line.  And a monthly fee for maintenance protection for the repair of THEIR equipment that I was leasing on the deal.

But then DirecTV wanted to charge me to rewire my internal cabling because their HD reception required individual cables due to the voltages they were carrying.

Cable is just a few bucks cheaper, but virtually no HD programming at all.  And all three send you HD Lite, rather than full HD, due to bandwidth compression (720P quality).  Only FiOS provides full 1080i HD, but even in the 6 yr old subdivision I live in, it's still not available.

  3. We love our satellite. We switched from Dish Network to DirecTV due to customer services issues but there are things we like better about each. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Good luck!
