  1. Aren't they the same thing?  But if you mean what term I prefer to use, then I would say sports entertainment because that is what it is, it is entertainment.

  2. Professional Wrestling

  3. Sports Entertainment because it entertains me and it's a sport but Proffesional Wrestling is good but sounds too serious.

  4. theyre thyre the same hting but in terms i prefer sports enetertainment because that how wwe clls it self the nwa used to and still calls it proffesional wrestling and it is but look where they are now nwa is dead with wcw and wwe is so universlly popluar that it would take evry superstar in the wwe to go to tna for tna to even be a comptetiotn i mean even ecw beats it

  5. Sports Entertainment cause I will rather want to be entertain then just looking at just Wrestling with no hype or no promo or no funny segments.Thats just boring.

  6. Professional Wrestling. Calling it Sports Entertainment and to call wrestlers: ''Superstars'' just makes it sound childish.

    Edit.

NWA is not dead, is not a promotion is many promotions including ROH.

  7. This is from the perspective of the "Old Man" of the Wrestling section:  I think I'm one of the few in this section who actually got to watch professional wrestling long before Vince turned it into "sports entertainment".

If you've read any of my answers on this subject you'll know that I am not a fan of Vince McMahon and what he did to professional wrestling.

I grew up watching professional wrestling and I loved it.  Two well-trained and highly-skilled wrestlers engaged in a battle to see who was the better man.  Despicable heels who cheated to win, popular faces who always played by the rules.  Clear-cut battles of good vs evil.  No "tweeners" confusing things.  Feuds about who was the better man in the ring.  Period.

Then Vince McMahon killed all of that and turned it into "sports entertainment" with the muscled-up prettyboys who can't wrestle, cartoon superheroes and supervillains, feuds about any d**n thing except wrestling, convoluted and confusing storylines with twists that make no sense, fans cheering despicable heels because they find the whole thing funny, fans booing faces because they know it irritates the fans of those faces.

Vince McMahon turned something that was visceral and "pure" (kayfabe notwithstanding) with a lot of die-hard fans (myself included) into a Vaudeville show that few take seriously.  Case in point: the excessive amounts of questions concerning who has the best entrance music and who's "hotter".  Another case in point:  the dozens of answers those "questions" receive while actual wrestling questions are lucky to get six responses.

I'm not just a "dinosaur" nostalgic for the "old days", I'm a wrestling fan who misses actual wrestling.  We still get that once in a while, but we have to wade through the storyline twists, the skits, the 10-minute promos, the brawlers who only punch and kick, and the high-flying spot-monkeys.

I'm a wrestling fan and have been for 41 years.  "Sports entertainment" gets in the way of that.

  8. professional wrestling--which we shall never see again (Dragon we feel your pain!!) I wish some people would look on=line and watch some of the many old matches...you can also find the first appearances of the superstars now. Even our host of this question Stan Hansen can be found there!!

Honestly as non-sporty as wrestling has be-come I do prefer it be called entertainment .

And now with things happening to Heenan an era is ending.

ty Bobby for the fun ..you're a class act!

  9. Professional wrestling. It makes it seem like an actual, mature form of competition. I'd rather see long-winded, athletic, academic wrestling matches with storylines kept at a minimum, thank-you-very-much.

There's a reason it's called World WRESTLING Entertainment, people, not World SPORTS-ENTERTAINMENT Entertainment.

  10. I prefer Wrestling but have accepted that sports entertainment is mostly what people want (at least in the US). I like both so I watch what is on.
