  1. I'll only watch Juve v. Real Madrid, Fiorentina v. Bayern, Fiorentina v. Lyon, Roma v. Chelsea, and I guess Atlético de Madrid v. Liverpool. I'll think of you in that one.

  2. group H is a really hard one; the easiest one is  B; in the other groups, only the favourites will pass

  3. A - Chelsea and Roma

    B - Inter and Werder

    C - Barca and Shaktar

D - Liverpool and Atletico (Group of death to me)

E - Man Utd and Celtic

    F - Bayern and Lyon

    G - Arsenal and Fenerbache

    H - Real and Juventus

There is no easy group. I don't really care about the draw, as long as my team tops the group stage

  4. I'm confident we'll advance. Manchester United's group looks easy, though I'll admit Celtic will be tough (we always get grouped with Celtic, don't we??). I'm interested in Group F for Bayern (and Fiorentina). That'll be an interesting group to watch, and yes I will be watching EVERY Fiorentina (I bet you know why, LOL) match as well as ALL Manchester United matches ;)

  5. it's the dumbest draw of the UEFA ever

  6. I think its the lowest quality CL ever.

Zenit, Bate Borisov, Dynamo Kyiv, Steaua, Aalborg, Shakhtar, Basel, Anorthosis,  Cluj? Most of them are for UEFA cup if not Intertoto cup, if not none.. lol

Group D & Group F are the only groups that aint predictable that much...

  7. PSV maybe there but there hopless, sold all there good players.

liverpool again just good on paper( not the team, the name) use can beat them twice.

marseille...i say they have have a good team with ben afra and cana, zenden.

marseille and madrid to go through. based on what i see.

Arsenal have the toughest away games but will thump them at home. so..it should be enough to go through with porto

  8. I have the following problems:

1 I hate it that Liverpool and Olympique are drawn together!! This is Zizou's team!!!!

2 I hate it that a Greek and a Cypriot team are drawn together

    3. I hate it that baby Torres will have to play against Atletico!

  9. I can't wait for some of the matchups.  Celtic and Villarreal vs. MunchU.

Liverpool / Atleti. REAL v. Juve

  10. Sucks. Fernando has to play against Athletico ):

    Chelsea, Roma

    Barcelona, Sporting

    Inter, Weder Bremen

    Liverpool, Athletico

    Man United, Villareal

    Lyon, Bayern

    Arsenal, Porto,

Madrid and Juve to go through.

  11. Well guess what? It's time for some drivel by me, in my usual long-winded way, as I examine each group.

    Group A:

Looks like a very straight forward group. Chelsea obviously expected to win the group, with Roma favoured to accompany them.

The spoiler would be Cluj, any points they take from Roma would open the door for Bordeaux, or vice-versa.

    Selection: Chelsea, Roma

    Group B:

No guesses on who is favoured to qualify. They might not win the group in doing so, as Inter are notorious for making a mess of routine qualification.

Bremen would be expected to advance, but Panathinaikos are formidable opponents at home. The Greeks main problem, has always been their away form.

The Cypriots will enjoy their historic clash with the Greeks, and may even give them a run for their money.

    Selection: Internazionale and W. Bremen

    Group C:

The Blaugrana are the obvious choice to qualify. They might even settle for 2nd spot, and save their energy for La Liga, where redemption will be the focus.

It will be furious fight for the other spot, all 3 teams have good home records. Any away victory or high scoring draw, would be a massive step in that direction.

However, Shaktar have a benevolent owner and with their season well under way, they appear to have the early advantage.

    Selection: Barcelona and Shaktar Donesk.

    Group D:

Liverpool have again drawn the short end of the straw, with a very difficult group. Any 2 of them could qualify, as Marseille nearly did at Liverpool's expense, last season.

Eindhoven are veterans in the qualifying stage, whilst Marseille should make life difficult for opponents, at the usually wind swept Stade Velodrome.

The Vicente  Calderon is always a difficult ground for away teams, and if Atletico Madrid can garner 6-7 points there, they should be able to advance. Liverpool will be expected to qualify as well, especially if the probability of Marseille and Eindhoven cancelling each other out, materialises.

    Selection: Atletico Madrid and Liverpool.

    Group E:

It would be a shock if United didn't win this group, such is the probability of their qualification. Aalborg will test Celtic and Villareal's abilities to handle cold weather.

Celtic should be able to use their European experience and vociferous support at Parkhead, to ensure progress at the Yellow Submarine's expense.

Selection: Man Utd and G Celtic

    Group F:

Another tough looking group. Bayern Munich should have enough in them to advance, and Lyon would normally be expected to join them, based on their dominance in Lique 1.

However, as we have seen over the last 2 seasons, Lyon are slowly losing the confidence and swagger, which were the mainstays of the team in the preceding 5 years.

Romanian football is improving ever year, Steaua Bucharest are always tough opponents at home. Fiorentina are unpredictable, sublime in 1 match, toothless in another. Too early to pick the second qualifier at this stage, current opinion indicates the Romanians as shock qualifiers.

Selection: S. Bucharest and Bayern Munchen

    Group G:

The 2nd toughest group on paper. Arsenal are at short odds to qualify, and even to top the group.

However, extremely hostile crowds await them in Istanbul and Oporto, as well as a cold, damp and chilly encounter in Kiev.

Arsenal's European form, seldom mirrors their domestic one. They can be in 1 particular season, able to play well and win in hostile terrain, and yet in another, be totally hopeless away from London.

I predict gloom for Wenger's boys this season. My choices:

    Selection: Fenerbache and Porto

    Group H:

There will be mourning in 1 part of Madrid, if Real fail to qualify. Bate Borisov are expected to dish out points with consistency, leaving a real battle royale between the Old Lady and Zenit.

After a long absence, (for their standard), it would interesting to see how Juve cope in European competition, especially against a hugely impressive Russian side that swept the UEFA Cup, with relative ease and flair.

Even without the Boy Wonder, Zenit, (well warmed up in a Russian League that is into its' final months), will take a lot of stopping. I can't see Juventus doing that, not this season.

Selection:  Los Meringues and Z S Petersburg.

Well that's it, I hope you survived this long-winded garbage that I somehow contrived to dish out.
