  1. You will need a h**l of a lot of money to start a site like this and you will need to market it perfect because the start up cost will be in the thousands and the running cost will match (depends on how popular your site is).

Youtube pay over a million a day in bandwidth and have their own servers!

To buy a script it will cost around 2-4 thousand $$$$ then you will need to be proficient in coding to keep it updated (hackers love sites where you have upload facility)

In my opinion, don't try and re-invent the wheel, learn how to market a smaller site first then go for it. There are many ideas out there that have not been done and will make millions. just gotta find em!

    Good Luck

  2. I agree that it's tough to break into the video market when YouTube has already cornered it, even if you plan to carve out your own niche. But to answer your question, a quick way to do this is to use a content management system that has the ability to upload/display videos and support unique user accounts. Joomla is a CMS that has this capability. You can install their CMS package onto your site then search their extensions page for a third-party video component. We've experimented with Seyret at work, so that might work. Community Builder might be a good choice for user accounts, if that integrates with Seyret.

  3. I sign Cazpa's answer. There are enaugh You Tube clones out there.

If you want to try anyway, check out osTube. As far as I know it's free and open source.
