Question:

What Do you Think Should Happen if Parents allow Their Young Children to become Extremely Obese?

I see extremely overweight pre-schoolers being bought 2-3 donuts at my job. Then wash it down with sips from mom's soda drink.

I was watching a tv show yesterday and the 12 year old girl was 321 pounds. Her mom feeds her c**p. The child never ate a salad in her life. She did not even know what an apricot was. The mom claimed that "it was not her fault" although it was freely admitted that the child was cooked all her meals by her mom...then whos fault is it?

I think the parents are setting their own children up for a life of mental (self esteem) issues, not including the obvious health concerns.

This should be considered child endangerment when the parent allows this to happen (when the child has no medical issue-)99% of the time))

  1. wow its surprising to me its just the parents fault for not learning about nutrition its something everyone should learn. i think its the parents fault for feeding them these food i can say I'm also guilty about this topic because when my son was like 8 or 9 he loved to eat junk food like Mcdonalds but he also did a lot of exercise everyday to stay fit he is in organized sports since 7 playing travel hockey now just shinny. so you can give all the blame to the mother that claimed that it was not her fault.

  2. I agree with you....most of the time, the parents are obese themselves...but I think it's disgusting either way!!

  3. Holy c**p! 12 years old and weighs 321?!?! Thats messed up!!! They should at least make their children excercise!

  4. I think that the child's doctor should refer the family to a nutritional counselor, AND a social worker to make sure they followed through on any recommended dietary changes.  A 12-year-old who weighs 321 pounds will most likely be dead before the age of 30.

  5. In extreme cases that should be considered abuse because it is endangering the child's health!

  6. I think they should be made to take

    a nutrition course.

  7. They should take a nutrition course and be required to serve healthier meals. They ARE endangering their life. My cousin was 9 and she weighed 294 pounds because her dad didn't know how to cook and her mom had died, so all she ever ate was McDonald's. Now she's 24 and weighs 110.
