What Do you Think of Nature Baby Names?

Question

What do you think of nature names for kids? E.g. River, Fox, Phoenix, Lake, Falcon.

I like both River & Fox for a boy. I'm not considering using these names I just want to know y'alls opinion.

I like nature names, as long as they don't sound too weird for a human's name. I like River as a first name, but I'm not sure about Fox.

I know a girl named Pheonix. And there was a Fox on the soap opera Passions.

I personally would not use any of them...

There are plenty (especially for girls) that are nature names without sounding weird and pretentious.

Holly, Daisy, Flora, Ivy...

Personally I'd never call my child anything that I suspect a large proportion of the population is going to roll their eyes at. And things like Lake or Falcon certainly come in that category.

Autumn or Skye (Skylar) for a Girl

River and Lake for a Boy

Laken is good for a boy or a girl

I like Fern for a girl and some of the floral names-Violet, Daisy but I'm not so keen on them for boys.

They're nice names but you have to watch the last name, especially the boys.  It will sound really funny if they have a really ethnic last name. River Rabinowitz or Fox Sanchez just sounds weird.

They're hippie names people will think your a hippie for naming him for that plus he'll probably not like it when he grows up

I don't like the really common and obvious ones.

Like River, Skye, Rain, Winter, Summer Autumn and ones like that are far too common. I don't like lake, either.

Phoenix is more of a mythology name to me.

I don't really like Fox, but Falcon is not bad.

I kinda like Falcon, but Peregrin is better.

Greek nature names like

Daphne -means Laurel

Mentha - means mint (although I would probably not use that one)

Uncommon flower/herb names are nice too like

Artemisia

Clove

Delphine

I'm a pantheist, so I really like names that celebrate nature and all that. But I don't like the really stereotypically "hippie" ones, because I don't want to burden my child with that association.

I like some of the nature names like Phoenix or Hunter, but I wouldn't name a boy River or Fox it just seems kind of weird to me. But it your call on what you want to name your kids.

Some nature names can be awesome! I may be a little biased though because I have a daughter named Holly (which I think is such a beautiful name).

Other ones that I like: Ivy, Lily, Rose, Violet, Robin (girl or boy), Summer, Autumn, Amber, Brooke, Hunter, etc.

Out of the ones that you listed I like River. I think Fox and Phoenix would make great middle names. Another good middle name is Stone.

I like Storm for a girl (or a boy), but then I would. It's my name!!

I have never met another Storm, though know they are out there somewhere.

Hi

I know alot of pets, usually dogs, that are named after natural elements such as Storm and Summer.  The forum I belong to (Lincolshire Essex and Trent Boxer Rescue) has some great named pets so I would be very careful.  Your child could end up sharing his name with a canine!  These names are super for dogs but children are saddled for life and never thank you.  Call them a name tht can be shortened or changed so they have a choice and never ever use a stupid spelling!  It only makes people think you cannot spell or are stupid.
