  1. Greenhouse gasses are GOOD for our atmosphere. Essential actually. If we didn't have any, the earth's average temp would be about -20c. Water vapour is the dominant greenhouse gass, and accounts for about 35c, which gives us our 15c average. But it's a careful balance.

A great example of the ability of greenhouse gasses is Venus Vs Mercury. Mercury has no atmosphere, and therefore no greenhouse gasses, and is the closest planet to the sun. Venus on the other hand is MUCH further from the sun, but has a VERY thick atmosphere made up mostly of CO2. Guess which is hotter?

Mercury has a very hot average of 85c (water boils at 100c), but Venus has an average of 480c!

Getting back to Earth, the problem we have is the balance we currently enjoy (due to the water vapour) is being disrupted by the huge amounts of CO2 being released into the atmosphere.

CO2 is the forcing agent, but it's bringing a few other gasses along for the ride, including methane from melting permafrost, and more water vapour due to the fact that warmer temps produce more evaporation.

Edit: Er, Raul, there's billions (6.65 billion), not trillions of people. A trillion is a thousand billion. By the way, yours is exactly the incredibly selfish kind of thinking that got us into this problem in the first place...

  2. get a life and stop worrying ok. because there is nothing nobody can do. you know how many d**n people are on this filthy earth? TRILLIONS! just live life and dont even worry about it. and even if does change you'll be long deceased.

  3. I think global warming definately exists but i think the scientists are exaterating it a little bit.

Well everything that lets out bad air, such as vehichles, lawn mores, factories, and all that, all the bad air is floating up into the ozone layer, and eating away at it, which is thinning and letting the sun in more, which makes the earth warmer, which is why the summers and winters are warming, which is making us suffer from more and more people getting heat stroke, so hlp the earth, if u wanna be healthy! :D lol.

  4. first of all "raul g" there aren't trillions of people on this earth so stop over exagerating. secondly the kind of attitude you have is why global warming is a problem we can make a difference, we can save this planet. the key is WE, not just a few of us who actually about the planet we leave off for our children.

  5. These sites can say it so much better.

I think we need to kick it up a notch or two or five in our efforts to combat global climate change.

  6. I feel that if we don't do something than we all are going to die sooner than I'm sure we want to....

try recycling, carpooling, walking instead of driving, inform other people about the effects of global warming... although not everyone cares about the Earth so I mean there's still not much we can do...

  7. Carbon Dioxide and water vapor are not poisons.  These are naturally occurring elements that life needs to survive.  We are not "making" or "producing" CO2, we are only burning and releasing what is already there.  In short, everything we use is technically organic since it came out of the Earth.  We may modify something such as metals to make them stronger and rust resistant, but we can't make a new metal or element from scratch.

So no, "green house" gasses are a way to scare the public into giving up certain lifestyles or be taxed.

  8. i second raulp.  i would also mention it is nothing but a vehicle to tax you and limit your movements/rights. the liberals and environazis want you under more control.
