Question:

What Does the Phrase 'On The Wire' Mean?

I was watching a video, and a person said, "What are you? On the wire?" and I've been looking for the meaning. I looked at Urban Dictionary and it hadn't been defined yet. Could someone tell me what the phrase or saying means?

  1. Generally, if someone is "on the wire" about something, it means they are indecisive.  Don't really know the whole context of your scenario.  But the only thing I've ever heard it to mean is when someone will not commit to something and their decision could go one way or the other. (Don't know, but maybe it comes from a tightrope walker, doing a "balancing act" and not really going one way or the other).

Think about it and see if this definition in any way could fit with the video.

  2. A reference to a bid or offer from a trader that is firm only if the party on the other side responds immediately.
