  1. Reduce clutter to eliminate hiding places for the bugs.

Thoroughly clean house using a high-powered vacuum cleaner and a stiff brush to remove bugs from cracks in the floor.

Dismantle beds to find hiding places.

You don’t have to dispose of your bed or bedding. Wash the bedding. Seal up mattresses and box springs by taping any holes or other places where bugs could exit a hiding place. Wrap the mattresses and box springs in heavy plastic covers and seal them. Dumping mattresses on the street could result in making the problem worse by spreading it to others.

To keep bugs from traveling from the floor, up your bed, and to your sleeping corpus, set the bed frame legs in containers of mineral oil and do not let covers touch the floor.

Caulk and seal all holes and cracks around pipes, electrical outlets, and around baseboards and cove moldings.

  2. wipe the bed frame down with bleach . ask a friend or someone if they have a carpet shampooer and do your carpets and your mattress i would spray 409 on it and just wpe it donw and let it dry . also make sure u wash your clothes in hot water. and i would wipe down your walls and windows wipe the walls down with 409. do the same to your coush too wipe it down with 409

  3. With a baby I woudl worry about the chemicals that some might recommend.  Instead I would try a non-chemical spray liek the ones that you can buy from kleen-free. com as these can be used around kids and pets etc.  You need to be really thorough with these and you need to reapply as they only kill what they hit but if you spray enogh times you shoudl be able to get all of them.

    Good luck.

  4. Heat will kill bed bugs.  The apartment complex where my son works uses heat. The literature varies with the stated temperature needed, but try heating the infected space (maybe with electric space heaters, to at least 130 degrees F, for at least three hours. Some literature suggests 155 is better.

You might drape any windows to keep them from expanding too much from the heat.  They could crack.

Show this to your landlord.  It will be much cheaper than calling in the exterminator, and probably more effective.  He might be happy to do it for you.

  5. I would say to sprinkle ur mattress with baking soda leave it on for a while and then with the vaccum cleaner attachment vacuum all surfaces and all side of the matresss.wash aything you are going to keep in the hottest water setting possible...and a thourough cleaning with a bleach solution.
