  1. In the EU, I thought there was free movement of people. That means you can go to any EU country and apply to work without needing to get a permit.

The only thing is cultural. It depends on which languages you speak and what sort of person you are.

The Netherlands is meant to be very nice. Apparently a lot of them speak English. Legalised cannabis too :)

  2. As a UK citizen, you do not need a work permit in any EU country.  Start at http://www.europa.eu.int/eures/main.jsp?... and you can look for jobs, read about the different countries etc.

  3. Just dont go where loads of other british are going. The last thing you want to do is end up being viewed in the same way as we view the peasants, sorry i mean polish.

  4. Ireland.  No paperwork, no residence permit - just register as an elector of British nationality - and you'll be free, because we will not let the state impose identity cards on us like Gordon's fascists will impose on British residents - and you will find we are a welcoming lot, but with a tendency to say 'no' to the state when we feel it's time to do so.

We're going back as soon as we retire.
