i presume a cosmo girl is one who aspires to be like girls featured in cosmopolitan magazine. girls have a certain kind of rich well defined and protected lifestyle.

these are girls who can arrange to shop in bonwitt teller, bergdorff goodman's and other high fashion type stores. girls who wear designer clothes and accessories.

these are girls who get summer jobs paying salaries more rewarding than many families earn. if in fact they do work, it is really not for the money, but to be introduced to a certain kind of business environment.

A Cosmo Girl is one who faithfully shells out $5.00 a month on the off chance that MAYBE this month's issue will be different and actually tell her about something guys like in bed that either she hasn't already known for years or it would take an idiot not to figure out.

The Cosmo Girl is portrayed as a sexually secure woman who, nevertheless, is not so secure that she doesn't have to go buy the latest issue every month to discover the "new" bedroom tricks that will make her next one night stand turn out better than the last 40,000.  By "better" I mean that the guy will actually call her again.

I really hate Cosmo. I love Allure and In Style, though. I have no talent for makeup and I love to see a beautiful hair and makeup job. Only now, instead of sexual tricks I'm in search of which product THIS month will make my skin like a 20-year-old's.
