I have a 30 gallon tank with the following fish:

2 guppies

2 angels

2 clown loaches

1 pleco.

I have had these fish for about 2 years now and they are fullgrown.

The size of these fish are:

Angels-3 inches each

guppies-1 inch each

Pleco-6 inch

clown loaches- 5 each= 24 inches

so technically i could add another 6 inches,

so what kind of fish should i get?

  1. a couple more guppies... tetras, danios, barbs those are all nice fish

  2. any small tetras

  3. rasbarios

    dwarf frogs

    male swordtails

    emperors

    good luck with yr choice

  4. k,, you could buy some mollies there pretty cool,, specially the dalmation mollies !!! or some platies your choice

  5. I would not get any more fish if I were you.

The size of your tank compared to the number of fish make it clear that all your fish probably have the space they need to live comfortable lives.

If you overcrowd them, it often leads to a rapid unfortunate chain reaction of territorial behavior in your fish while at the same time adding to the burden your tank filters have to keep the water clean.

That extra 6 potential inches available really doesn't matter one bit. If you continue to properly keep your fish, honestly, all of them can continue to grow - especially the Pleco. (I've seen them reach the size of a small baseball bat)

There are many different things you can do to enhance your tank's appearance & habitat quality without adding more fish. Live plants, different size/color gravel, adding hiding places, unique tank sculpting/design, tunnels, shady spots, ornaments, enhanced lighting, improved deep water current(s)/movement  < Your clown loaches will love you for this one>

  6. Tetras are always a good start. They are peaceful fish and wont nip at your angels as long as you buy 3 or more.I have a 20 gallon and we have3 red eye tetras,2 dalmatian molly's,1 mickey mouse platy,1 pleco ,1 long finned rosy barb and 1 catfish. The tetra,s are by far the best in our tank. There are a lot of different breeds of tetra's out there and they all pretty and nice to look at.They are at their best when they are in a planted aquarium, and they wont eat the plants.I believe  natural is best.

Plants also help regulate the tank to keep the fish happy and healthy.

Give the tetra's a try and see what they have to offer you in the way of beauty and grace. what could be better than sitting back in your favorite chair and watch these beautiful fish swim back and forth through out the tank amongst the other fishes.

  7. 30 gallons of water....

  8. Not all of those are fully grown! If that is a common pleco it Will et 2 feet long and needs a 75 gallon tank to be Happy. Also, the angels will get 6 inches long and tall. Your tank is already fully stocked! Once the angel is full grown it will eat smaller fish. The 1 gallon per inch or fish rule is bs. You either end up with a very OVER stocked tank or very under stocked tank! Its like saying you can have a 10 inch oscar in a 10 gallon tank OR 5 2 inch guppies, either very understocked or overstocked. Yous is already overstocked and not all of your fish are full grown. Do not add any more fish. Also, danios and neons will not breed under normal circumstances like guppies will.

  9. Well the angels will eat the guppies soon if they can. Clown loaches get too big for a 30 gallon I believe, although I could be wrong. Otherwise, I'd go with some tetras or a larger livebearer like a swordtail or molly.
