My boyfriend says I really ought to trim my bush. It's only a small bush, I don't even know what it's called but since he keeps bringing it up I thought I should try.

Do I need to go buy some kind of brush cutting tool or will regular shears work?

  1. Be smart and find a friend.   If you never trimmed a bush and not knowing what kind it might be, you can damage it. Also, any cutting tool can be dangerous. Have someone teach you, prevent accidents, it can be hazardous to your health too !

I knew a person which didn't know anything about SHARP tools and accidently stabbed himself and he has a college education too.  Safety is  #1, tools can be dangerous.

  2. Actually, regular household scissors would work best.  You don't want to damage anything valuable.

  3. What ever you do, do NOT set it ablaze. You certainly do NOT want to have to have someone stomp it out and damage the root structure. LOL

  4. Yes, it is a good idea to keep it neat and trim, then at least you won't find bits of it falling off along the wayside when you least want them to.  There is nothing worse than having to pick out  - I mean up - those annoying little fragments of flotsam and jetsam.

  5. Well I have NEVER been one to put much trust in Bush.....

    Oh wait different subject...

Well don't let him do it thats all I can say.

There may be no bush left when he is through!

  6. I always have my bush trimmed by professionals.  Sharp instruments, nice clean environment, and the scent of lavender in the air....

It is extremely important that the clippers be SHARP, and make sure that the person has COMPLETELY CLIPPED whatever he is intending to clip BEFORE pulling the cutting instrument away from the bush.  Failure to do this will result in the bush being pulled and yanked hard, resulting in exquisite pain to the poor bush such that only a truly callous person would be able to withhold tears from welling in the eyes.

Finally, once the bush is completely clipped, it is very important to do something nice for the bush, in order to reduce trauma.  Some people do not believe that bushes have feelings, I disagree.  He needs to touch the bush gently, whisper to it lovingly, and then a good and thorough watering is essential.

    Repeat as necessary.

  7. if its just a trim, a weed whacker should work just fine

  8. If he really wants it done, he should do it himself.

  9. Hi sweetie,  (waves northward)  I do believe there is a tool called a "bush whacker".  Not only would it trim your bush nicely, I am sure your boyfriend could use it also.  :O
