I am Looking to buy flowers/seeds that I can buy now that will flower during the winter months are there any that you can recommend?

  2. Inside or outside, and where are you? For inside many orchid varities will flower with minimal light, as will some catcus, christmas varities. Those are inside plants here. Most plants won't flower because of the light requirement.

  3. It depends on your zone but in general hellebores are very showy.

    Many Pimula species or hybrids bloom as early as February & March in zone 7-8.

    Bergenias can be wonderful early bloomers.

    Camellia sasanqua is both smaller & first to bloom before the more common C. japonica

  4. Don't forget bulbs as well. They will be for sale in the early autumn and there are several to choose from that will flower winter/early spring....

    Winter aconites, scilla, snowdrops, snowflakes (like snowdrops but taller and a bigger flower) crocus and dwarf iris.

    Winter flowering jasmine (Jasminum nudiflorum) you would have to buy a plant.

    Heathers come in a variety of colour.

    Violas and pansies will flower through winter and into spring. Both can be bought reasonably cheaply as bedding plants.

    Others to think about...grasses, look beautiful with frost on them.

    Cornus...coloured stems, red, black and yellow.

    Heucheras...No flowers in winter but beautiful coloured foliage that stays all year round.

    Daphne mezereum. Can be fussy about location and can be an expensive plant but if you can get it to grow it is stunning and scented!
