What Fruits and Vegetables grow well in a northern Climate?

Minnesota climate really, but I want to know things that are grown in northern climates.

broccoli, cauliflower, any kind of greens (mustard, collard) turnips, onions, garlic, shallots, all kinds of cabbage to  name a few.

not sure about fruits since the only fruit I grow is watermelon

tomatoes grow rather well in the summer season as well as strawberries (:

How far north we talking?  Look at the agriculture in a state like Minnesota.  You have beans, tomatoes, spinach, blueberries, cherries and apples among the most frequently grown.
