  1. Here in the US a college degree is preferred, not required. That being said, you most likely won't be hired without a degree.

The degree is a way for the airlines to see if you are able to learn and also that you are able to finish something that you start. There are other variables but that is basically the why of it.

I would recommend studies in something you enjoy because the degree is not required to be related to flying. Depending on what sector you want to go in for example the military, you would need the highest grades to be able to fly fighter jets. For the airlines they basically want to see that you graduated but the higher the grades the better no matter what you do in life.

You might also want to search this question at the top of this page(search box) since it is asked on occasion.

  2. In GCSE, all you need to pass is Maths, english, science and other 2 subjects then once you get 5 gcse at grade C or above then you can go to college to do normal Alevels of maths, physics and any other ones you may prefer but maths and physics have to be complusory if you want to get into aerospace industry. If you dont prefer normal Alevels then do a BTEC National Diploma in Aerospace Engineering course at a college and i think its much better than alevels because if you do the aerospace engineering course then you will learn more about physics & maths involved in aircraft and also general aswell. Then you can go to university to do a degree of your choice e.g. pilot studies course. Please visit ucas.com for courses that you can do at university for becoming a pilot. There are lots to choose from so dont worry.

    Hope this helps.

Any other questions just let me know.

    good luck mate.
