  1. A 3.12 should be high enough but it all depends on what type of engineering you want to be in. Go to Texas A&M Engineering website to look up information for the different disciplines.

  2. I'm a current student now at TAMU, and I also transferred into the electrical engineering program from a community college. Now from what I've been told from the admissions office (from months of pestering), the majority of your academic decision for a transfer depends on the amount of freshmen and the amount of spaces in the upper level engineering department. So basically, you need tip-top grades to be on the safe side since Engineering (along with Business) is one of the top colleges taught at TAMU. Personally, I transferred with a 3.7 but my roommate was able to transfer with a 3.5 into the civil engineering program. Even with that gpa I was nervous waiting for my decision, as to how competitive TAMU is becoming. I've also heard of students with 3.5 gpa's not making the cut into the engineering program. So like I said it really depends on the space they deem available and the pool they want to reach from. You will want to have the highest gpa possible though because as i'm sure you can put a simple correlation together of: The lower the gpa, the higher the pool of students. Good Luck Future Aggie!
