I don't understand why you'd want a GPS for golf.  Unless the course is programmed into the GPS unit, all you will know is where you are, not the distance to the hole or any hazards.

My Garmin Nuvi could be programmed to know where the greens on a course are, but I'm not sure how precise the yardages would be for golfing purposes.  You'd have to walk the course to set each hole up and name it, then "plan a trip" to each hole in succession.  This would involve lots of button pushing and detract from the enjoyment of the game.

You might see if there are GPS units that double duty between the car and walking, since walking units would be more precise with distances in foot mode.
